Psalm 139:1–24

This psalm is ultimately a prayer for God’s defense and vindication of his people. David rejoices that God knows his every motive, that God is present wherever David goes, that God has governed David’s days prior to his birth, and on that basis prays that God will inspect him and vindicate him against his enemies. Is that your experience as well? Do you know that God is always with you? Do you trust him as your defense? Do you invite him to inspect your life? Do you know that you are on his side and that he is on your side? Let’s take those questions and look together at Psalm 139, which gives us you your prayer for God to defend his people.
