God’s purposes through both judgment and restoration is for his people to know him. Some version of the phrase “they will know that I am the LORD” occurs about sixty-five times throughout the book. Sin is the greatest threat to God’s people knowing him, and Ezekiel recounts how God will act to solve this problem through his presence among his people, both by withdrawing that presence and by manifesting it. Let us look at Ezekiel, therefore, under the theme of God’s presence.
