Paul writes to the Thessalonian church to comfort them by reminding them of the visible nature of Christ’s return, and to highlight certain events that must occur before Jesus appears. Jesus is coming, Paul assures them, but first, there are certain truths they must remember as they wait for the Lord to appear. Last week, we looked at the first truth, which is that false teachers will try to unsettle you from truth. We want to know the Scriptures well enough so that false teaching cannot trick us into believing things that are contrary to God’s Word. Today, we look at the second truth, which is that wicked forces will try to deter you from faithfulness.
