Genesis 17:1–14

We look at the promises God has made us, and the pledge he has given to confirm those promises. The promises are the gospel, and the pledge is baptism. In baptism, God not only gives us a sign and symbol of his promises, but pledges his faithfulness to us, and confirms that he will keep the promises he has made. Therefore, baptism functions as a beautiful sign of God’s gracious purposes, not only to us, but to our children as well. And for that reason, let us consider the beauty of baptism.
