Why is faith a challenge? Because we are creatures of time and space. We do not see what we hope for. Furthermore, our sinful nature tempts us to reject the promises of God, and we can invent clever explanations to reject God’s truth. The very nature of faith calls us to go against those inclinations, and to take God at his word. And that’s the challenge that is on display in our passage today.
