Deacons are officers in Christ’s church who lead in the area of service. Why do we have deacons, and what do they show us about Jesus? Furthermore, how does the office of deacon and the instructions given to deacons here in 1 Tim 3:8–13 affect all of us as God’s people? We’ll answer those questions by arguing this big idea: the office of deacon shows us that Christ is the greatest servant, and we are his fellow-servants.
