The Coming Judgment, Part 4
As we come to the conclusion of Mark 13 today, Jesus is concerned with his vindication. He is warning the disciples about Jerusalem’s coming destruction and teaching how the disciples can be prepared for that coming judgment. Now, the next time Jesus enters Jerusalem, it will be his last (in large part because of what Jesus teaches here), and so another purpose of this message is to teach the disciples that when this judgment comes, they will know that he was telling them the truth. How will Jesus’ prophetic ministry be vindicated? Because within a generation, the events he predicted concerning Jerusalem will come true.
In today’s passage, he will give them further instructions on how they should respond when these events come to a culmination. Therefore, let us give our final two answers to the question, When judgment comes, how will you respond?
