Apostles’ Creed: Christ’s Resurrection
The next section of the Apostle's Creed reads "The third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.” The Westminster Larger Catechism question 51 refers to this as Christ’s exaltation: “What was the estate of Christ’s exaltation? The estate of Christ's exaltation comprehendeth his resurrection, ascension, sitting at the right hand of the Father, and his coming again to judge the world.” Each of these actions is significant with respect to the accomplishing and applying of our salvation (see WLC 52–56). Tonight we examine Christ's resurrection.
