God Redeems His People
Ruth 3:1-4:22
After Naomi learns the identity of Ruth’s benefactor, so to speak, and pronounces a blessing on him, she adds one more key detail to her description of him: “That man is a close relative; he is one of our guardian-redeemers” (2:20). The guardian-redeemer refers to a relative who has the opportunity and possibly the obligation to get a family member out of difficulty (see Lev 25:25–55).[1] Chapters. 3 and 4 conclude the story of Ruth by showing us how Boaz assumes that position towards Ruth.
