Matthew 25:31-46

This passage depicts Jesus in the role of the judge exercising authority over the nations.[1] Like the previous parables, this vision expresses a division between those who are ready and not ready.[2] Both groups are consigned to separate eternal destinies. Unlike the previous parables, much more attention is given to the specific conduct that shows people to be ready or not ready for Jesus’ return.
