Matthew 21:23-46

In this passage, we see the religious leaders’ response to Jesus (v. 23 identifies religious leaders as listening to Jesus, and v. 45 identifies them as the target of his words).[1] Who does this northern villager think he is to challenge the official authorities?[2] Jesus responds to their challenges with sayings and parables which beg the question, Who are the people of God?
