Isaiah 61:1–3; Luke 4:16–21

Throughout this passage, the speaker declares that God has sent him “to proclaim good news” (v. 1), and “to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor” (v. 2). This speaker has a message that he wants us to hear. As you gather this morning, what do you need to hear from the Lord? When you go back to work tomorrow or Tuesday, or as you prepare for the coming year, what do you need to hear from the Lord? Perhaps it’s just as you prepare for family gatherings, what words from God do you need to hear? As we’ve prepared to do this Advent season, today let’s hear the fulfillment of the Christmas promise.
