As we conclude this passage today, I want to highlight the contrast between what Satan tries to do and what God successfully does. Don’t get me wrong: this passage does speak of Satanic deception that causes souls to perish. But the passage also highlights God’s power to overcome such deception for his people, and places even the deceiving activity of Satan under God’s ultimate control. So, one last time, we celebrate that Jesus is coming, but before he does, let me give you a warning and an encouragement.
