What God Wants You to Know About Worship, Part 1
When it comes to worship, there are a lot of things we would like to know. Now, we can study the Word of God and receive much direction in these debates, even if we don’t perhaps find the clearest answer to every question. Nevertheless, when it comes to worship in the Christian assembly, there are several things that God clearly tells us. There are certain things that we need to know about worship, and thankfully God tells us what they are.
In this passage, the author focuses particularly on the differences between worship under the Mosaic covenant, particularly the worship Israel participated in at Mt. Sinai, with the spiritual realities that believers in Christ enjoy under the new covenant, and the life and worship that flow from those realities. And throughout the passage we can see clear truths that God wants us to know about worship in the Christian assembly. So, as we look at this passage, let’s see what God wants us to know about worship. There are four main truths God communicates. We are only going to look to one of them in this sermon -- that sin brings death, distance and fear.
