Jesus, the Suffering Servant
In this fourth servant song, we look at the passage in Isaiah about the suffering servant. In it we see Jesus' introduction, Jesus' rejection, Jesus' suffering and Jesus' success.
Pastor Winston shows us three simple truths from this passage.
- Let’s notice what this passage tells us about God’s character: he is successful and he is humble; he dies for his enemies in order to save his enemies; he conquers by rescuing. God doesn’t quite do things the way we expect him to, but he does things for the good of his people, and because he loves us.
- God cares about suffering and injustice. This passage presents Jesus as the ultimate righteous sufferer who has suffered perfectly for you, and cares and sympathizes with you. He is with you in your suffering.
- We are sinners in need of salvation, and salvation is available in Christ. Our sins led to this, but God willingly died for us in order to save us, and we can love him, because he first loved us.
